Location

Damavand, Iran

Located in a mountainous region near Damavand, Minosa Town is a common destination for weekends. This town includes 100 pieces of land and it’s a part of a larger town, called Hasht Behesht. Villas with low density are supposed to be built in each piece of land. Therefore, the green mountainous landscape will be the dominant view. Currently a few number of these villas are constructed and a powerful security system is necessary to get residents trust.
The purpose of designing security room for Minosa Town is to design a powerful iconic volume that will become a monument or a sign for the town, plus its basic function to design spaces for check-in and check-out on the ground floor and a resting room upstairs. Thus, its basic concept was to design a building that is dominant to its surrounding area and draw residents’ trust. Its triangle shape was formed out of this purpose and as a result of sections from cars passing direction. The volume is designed in metal as a symbol of strength which is cut in the middle to provide view to the entrance of the town and it resembles an observant eye.
The skin that separates inside from outside is made from several layers. The outer layer is raw steel and left with no surface cover to rust and weather naturally over time and adjust its color to the environment. This will present the building as a natural element and we can observe the time passing on its surface. The next layer is the structural grid which has the supporting role. A thermal insulation layer to provide a comfortable environmental condition for interior space and finally a gypsum layer which will be covered with proper color. First it was supposed to display all the layers where the volume is cut but it changed during the construction and just to soften the volume and to display the layers, some parts of metal sheets are being punched. As a result, its thin thickness is visible.
